WHAT IS TASTER COURSE SG (TACO)?
TaCo was founded by a duo who, alongside their peers, could not decide on a University course. They realised that this led to a huge waste of time, money and resources for students choosing the wrong course.
Today, TaCo not only curates TaCo Courses which are immersive University mock lessons for students to discover their interests, but also aims to be the ultimate guide for students to understand the various paths in University.
TaCo believes that students can be empowered to choose a University course which they are confident in, and passionate about. After all, self discovery, like education, never ends.
TaCo hosts taster courses that provide immersive experiences together with credible, unbiased resources to students. It also gives students an opportunity to find a community of like-minded peers.
WHAT DOES A TASTER COURSE ENTAIL?
A Taster Course generally contains two sections:
Taster Module
Q&A.
The lesson usually contains a breakdown of some of the simpler main concepts taught in the major. These concepts are usually simplified to make it easier to understand for pre-university students. There would also be interactive portions where students will be engaged through polls, quizzes, kahoot or brief discussions.
At the end of the session, there is a Q&A section where students can ask questions on a platform (Pigeonhole) and our teachers would take the time to answer and give their candid opinions!
Apart from the Taster Course, teachers are encouraged to craft quizzes and worksheets for students to take back after the lecture and or even share a sample of the final slides to the students in order for them to get a better sense of what the major entails.

All administrative details like registration, signups, forms will be handled by TaCo.
HOW LONG IS THE COMMITMENT FOR TASTER COURSE TEACHERS?
The whole process of crafting the Taster Courses usually takes around 10 hours or so based on survey responses from our current Taster Course teachers.
TaCo holds events several times a year. However, commitment is ad-hoc and can take place anytime so do look out for messages from our TaCo members if you wish to join! Our flagship events are normally twice a year with many other ad-hoc events that will occur throughout the year. For the coming year, TaCo Fiesta which will take place in December is one of the events that you can look forward to teach in if you join our Teaching Team. Teachers are expected to attend at least two of these events once they have been certified as TaCo teachers!

Once you are registered as our TaCo Teacher, you will be able to register to teach for our ad hoc events at your discretion for the duration of 1 year (August to July) If you wish to teach with TaCo for more than a year you will be able to renew your term with us!
CAN I SIGN UP AS A TACO TEACHER WITH MY FRIENDS?
Yes! Just indicate the names and Telegram handles of your friends in the signup form, and have each of them fill in the signup form as well. However, we cannot guarantee that all teachers who sign up in a group will be accepted together.
WHAT’S THE APPLICATION PROCESS LIKE TO BE A TACO TEACHER?

Upon passing the interview, you’ll be invited to create an account on our teachers’ portal and be on your way to becoming a full-fledged taster course teacher!

WILL I BE PAID AS A TACO TEACHER?
Currently, there is no formal salary or compensation scheme for our Taster Course teachers.

However, we are working towards thanking teachers for their contributions by offering honorariums for our future events.
