OUR EDUCATION MOVEMENT
Empowering Education
Founded in 2020, Taster Course Sg, TaCo prides itself on curating course specific Taster Courses.

Taster Courses include mock lectures, seminars, tutorial sessions etc on undergraduate degrees which will be delivered through short 2-3 hour sessions. These taster courses are particularly for students who have not chosen their University degree, and are looking at exposing themselves to the different degrees available.
OUR STORY
The TaCo team identified a problem back in May 2020. After receiving our A-level results, we were confused on how to confidently choose a course which would suit us from the range of different university courses available. As we personally went through the university application process, we hoped to alleviate this problem for future students in similar crossroads.
Thus, to better understand this problem, our team surveyed a total of 684 students, across 20 different JCs in Singapore to review the inadequacies of our Uni application process.
We asked about the resources they used when deciding their uni courses and the current gaps in their resources.

Here are the 4 main problems that we identified:
LACK OF IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE
Students have a lack of understanding of specific courses.
LACK OF GENUINE INTERACTION WITH SENIORS
Students do not know what to expect in a University course.
LACK OF OBJECTIVE INFORMATION
Information currently available can be biased.
LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT COURSES STUDENTS AREÂ INTERESTED IN
Students do not have any sense of direction.
OUR GOALS
EDUCATIONAL
PSYCHOLOGICAL
ECONOMICAL
We want to assist secondary and tertiary students in gaining more immersive experiences for various options for their course of study to enable them to make more informed decisions in their educational career. This will allow them to have a fruitful time when pursuing their studies.
We aim to reduce unnecessary anxiousness and stress surrounding application to university by providing students with reliable information. Through our programme, students will also find a community of students and seniors who share the same interests as them, creating support systems for them.
We hope to streamline the decision making process from secondary/tertiary education to university education. This will increase the portion of students studying fields they genuinely enjoy and will pursue in the future. Hence, building a more skilled, productive workforce.
